Adobe Buzzword - Online Word Processor

Buzzword is the latest entry into the online document editing competition.

Lets start with the looks:
As you can see, its very easy on the eyes and this is great for the everyday user.

The editing interface looks stunning, clean, crisp and looks like something apple would make (just not silver). Placing an image in you document is easy, simple click the image tab, upload your image and place it as you would in Word or Pages.

Another great feature of Buzzword is its sharing and collaborative capability's. You can have a number of Co-Authors and every leave comments on your document to tell the other writers where you were headed or point out errors that you don't have time to fix.

You can even upload our own documents you have made in Word and share them with your friends, peers or colleagues.

Of course, being an online application, it has its limits. There are only has 7 fonts and no way to put shapes in your documents like Word does.

So overall? Its a great online Word Processor and is great for students that need to edit documents at school and home without emailing back and forward over and over. This would also be good for collaborative projects including coding as you can export in XML or HTML (Zipped)as well as doc, docx, rtf, txt and PDF and you can also import these formats.
Its great, but a bit under-powered.

Buzzword is out in beta as part of the acrobat.com online application suite.

At the right you can see a picture of what my desk looks like. I made this completely in paint.net (the best free image editor ever) The only thing I didn't make was the mighty mouse. Any thoughts I would love to hear them!

Two screens or one?

So I have a question for you all. If you had the choice of getting one 30" monitor or two 24" monitors, which would you choose and why? Personally I would want the two 24" monitors because in the end it adds up to more screen real estate. I would also want them because you could be more organized. For instance, you could be watching Jon's ustream one day but also typing an important essay. You could pop Jon's stream on your second monitor to glance at everyone in a while and have Pages open on the other screen. However if you did that with the one 30" then it would distract you because chances are you will be glancing up at the corner you stuck it in. That's just my prospective and I would love to hear yours.

New iMac's

That's right. The rumors end here. The new iMac's are available at the same price but with faster speeds. Go and check the apple online store for yourself. They have speeds up to 3.06 GHz! And a larger hard drive.

iMac Refresh?

GeekSugar has said that a long awaited iMac refresh is going to come next week. They are supposed to be the same price but have the newest Penryn processors from Intel. They are the processors that where put into the macbooks/macbook pros during there refresh. There is also a predicted hard drive capacity increase. I am betting that this is not a rumor but a yet to be revealed fact because GeekSugar was correct about the macbook refresh's. I think the refresh is timed about right because the last update to the iMac's was in August '07. What do you think?

Download Youtube videos

So there is a way to download videos without a downloadable service such as Tooble. To do this you need to go to http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/04/download-youtube-videos-as-mp4-files.html Once there you are going to want to right click on "Get Youtube Video" and click copy link. Then you are going to want to create a new bookmark and then paste the link as the address. The link is actually a JavaScript bookmarklet. Then you can go to a video of your choice on youtube, then click on the book mark and then a link that says download as mp4 with appear in the description box, click on it and it will save to wherever you save you downloads to.

And that Is how you download a youtube video.

gOS "Space" Released

In my first post I will be commenting about the new gOS called "Space". The latest version of gOS is a major upgrade from the previous version dubbed "Rocket"

The new version is focused around Online media and Social networking, Mainly MySpace. The new version now uses the AWM Dock as the main application launcher and has quite a large apple feel to it, In one of the gOS team blog posts they talk about this and how it is not just a clone of Mac OSX (http://dev.thinkgos.com/blog/gos-is-linux-not-apple). Overall this looks like a great OS for online purposes.

Lol! I don't know why I said Woot or heck why I'm even doing this post but I am so live with it! So today I wanted to emulate the aqua button in paint.net. So I came out with this. Its obviously not really that good and I could do it better with Photoshop but heck like I care. Corrupt, Mac and Student Achievement

Hey Guys!

Well I haven't posted in a while and I have some news. First, me and my friend are making a game called "Corrupt" for the iPhone/iPod touch. More details will come. Also I am finally getting a Mac! That doesn't mean I'm not going to talk about Windows though. It will be a little of both. And last but not least a piece of info not related to tech. I got a student Achievement award in school. Basically that means you have been on honors or high honors two terms in a row. That's all for now

3G iPhone might as well be Shipping

The 3G iPhone might as well be shipping. The signs tell us that It will be introduced at WWDC in June. The first bit of evidence is that Walt Mossberg of the said we'd see a 3g version within 2 months or as he says 60 days. And AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega said all their smart phones would be 3G in a few months (how convenient) And now the Apple stores stocks of iPhone's are going down which will have to eventually lead to a refill. Also the image above is said to be what the 3g iPhone will look like. I personally like that look. It makes the antenna cover blend in. Although I think they will get rid of the cover and make the black one big one. Also please comment say "Hello" to our new writer, Lazymonkey44!

3g iPhone soon?

This is going to be a really short post. Anyway I'm thinking that there is going to be a 3G iPhone coming out during WWDC 2008 in June. Also I would advise you don't buy anything from Apple until WWDC is over unless its really necessary and cant wait. This is because Apple could update the item that you purchase during WWDC. However I think you should be okay on iPods.

Should the Mac get licensed?

Many people want the Mac operating system to get licensed. If you don't know what licensed means it would basically allow you to run the Mac OS on your PC. There really is know yes or no answer in my opinion for this question because it has its benefits and its downsides. Its benefits would be that Apple would make a lot more money. It would also relieve people of Windows or Linux if they don't want to shell out the money for a Mac. However one reason that Apple is so good at customer service and compatibility is because they know what is in the Macs. So should the Mac get licensed? I don't think to all PC'S. I think they should team up with a company like Dell and then distribute it through them. They would get more money and they would be under control of hardware.

Testing out Windows Live Writer

Hey,

I thought that I should test out Windows Live Writer which is free. It allows you to publish blog posts from you desktop to virtually any client (blogger, WordPress etc.) If you have a blog then I highly recommend that you download it from http://get.live.com/ Along with Writer there are other Live applications that you may want to consider getting.

I was impressed that you can download extensions that allows you to do various things. I also like how you can have more than one account. It also allows you to view it in different forms like HTML, Web preview, Web layout and then just normal. The HTML format might come in handy later because I am learning HTML at the moment. Of course it has the usual spelling check, alignment, insert table, picture, hyperlink, map, tag or video. Its interface looks like the explorer in Vista. The bar at the tops and then the menu bar. Look at the picture above. Another thing that I like is that you can customize the interface with colors. And yes I am typing this review from it! Overall I give it a 5 star approval!

My views on the iPhone

My view on the iPhone can be summed up in one word amazing. It comes bundled with essential apps and because of the SDK you will soon be able to download legal applications for free or what the developer feels is a good price. And now since Apple is going to be shipping Enterprise features with the iPhone 2.0 software it will most likely get even more revenue because it will ship with features that companies would like.

Now I have seen people at my school with iPhones and they are typically in 8th grade. I personally think that no kid that isn't in their senior year at high school or in college should have a $400 phone (except for me of course ;) ). It just doesn't fit. What would a 14 or 15 year old need with a phone that has a touch screen or stocks? If they really need something like the iPhone I don't see why the shouldn't just buy a 200 dollar blackberry pearl if they really need a smartphone! And they will be saving either them selves or their parents money that could go towards bigger and better things. This is really just my personal opinion and Im sure that some people will hate me for saying this and call me an iPhone hater or a Microsoft fanboy but like I care.
